1. Purpose and Scope

This policy applies to Atura’s offices, storage and fulfilment activities, digital services, purchasing, product recommendations, subcontracted production, packaging, transport and related services. Our greatest impacts may occur within extended supply chains that Atura does not directly control; we will use proportionate due diligence and influence while being clear about the limits of available evidence.

2. Principles

  • Meet applicable environmental law, permits, duty-of-care requirements and contractual commitments.
  • Prevention first. Avoid or reduce environmental harm at source before relying on treatment, offsetting or disposal.
  • Waste hierarchy. Prioritise prevention, then reuse, recycling and recovery before disposal where practicable.
  • Lifecycle perspective. Consider raw materials, manufacture, decoration, packaging, transport, use, durability and end of life.
  • Evidence and transparency. Make claims that are specific, current, appropriately qualified and supported by reliable evidence.
  • Continuous improvement. Set proportionate priorities, monitor useful information and take corrective action where performance or controls fall short.

3. Energy and Climate

Atura will seek practical ways to reduce avoidable energy use and greenhouse-gas emissions within the activities it controls or can influence. This may include efficient premises and equipment, sensible heating and lighting, reduced unnecessary travel, delivery consolidation, demand planning and consideration of lower-impact energy or logistics options when supported by reliable information.

Any carbon footprint, reduction, neutrality or net-zero statement must define the organisational or product boundary, emissions scopes, baseline, calculation method, period, reductions achieved, use of offsets and independent assurance where relevant. Aspirations must not be presented as achieved results.

4. Materials, Products and Responsible Sourcing

When relevant to the brief, Atura will help customers consider durability, intended use, order quantity, recycled content, responsible sourcing, production location, decoration, repair or reuse, packaging and end-of-life routes. No single attribute makes a product environmentally preferable in every circumstance.

  • Supplier and product claims may be checked against current specifications, transaction evidence, certificates, licences, test reports or other credible documentation.
  • Certification language will match the product, site, material and chain-of-custody scope actually evidenced.
  • Substitutions or material changes that affect an environmental claim must be reviewed before the claim is repeated.
  • Where evidence is incomplete, Atura will qualify the statement, seek clarification, offer a better-supported option or avoid the claim.

5. Waste, Packaging and End of Life

Atura will seek to prevent avoidable over-ordering, samples, spoilage, obsolete stock and packaging. Suitable materials will be reused or separated for recycling where practical facilities and compliant routes exist. Controlled or hazardous waste, including relevant electrical equipment, batteries, chemicals or contaminated materials, will be handled by authorised providers with required records.

Recyclable, compostable or biodegradable claims must reflect the complete item, local collection or treatment conditions, contamination risks and any action needed from the user. A technically recyclable material must not be described in a way that implies widespread practical recycling where that is not supported.

6. Production, Chemicals, Pollution and Water

Where Atura directly controls production or finishing, it will use appropriate storage, handling, maintenance, spill response, ventilation and disposal controls for inks, adhesives, cleaning products and other substances. Where production is subcontracted, relevant environmental expectations and evidence will be addressed through supplier selection and review according to risk.

We will seek to prevent releases to land, drains, water or air and respond promptly to spills or environmental incidents. Water use and biodiversity impacts will be considered where they are material to premises, products, production methods or sourcing decisions.

7. Transport, Fulfilment and Digital Operations

Atura will consider consolidated delivery, reduced split shipments, suitable packaging, efficient storage and obsolete-stock risk when planning fulfilment. Transport decisions must also consider quality, safety, lead time and customer requirements. Digital services will use proportionate retention, efficient workflows and appropriate provider review; digital delivery is not assumed to be impact-free.

8. Suppliers and Partners

Printers, manufacturers, decorators, fulfilment providers, installers, waste contractors, couriers and other partners are expected to comply with applicable environmental law and provide accurate information. Due diligence will be proportionate to material, process, geography, value, volume and potential impact. Atura may request evidence, agree corrective action, propose an alternative or reconsider a relationship where serious concerns are not addressed.

9. Environmental Claims and Customer Communications

Environmental information must be truthful, clear, specific, current and supported by evidence appropriate to the claim. Relevant limitations, comparison basis, lifecycle boundary, certification scope and disposal conditions must not be omitted where that could mislead. Broad terms such as green, eco-friendly, sustainable, carbon neutral or responsible should be avoided unless the meaning is clear and the overall impression is substantiated.

Marketing, proposals, portal content and product data should distinguish verified facts, supplier statements, comparisons and future ambitions. Claims will be corrected or withdrawn when evidence is unreliable, expired or no longer matches the supplied product.

10. Objectives, Monitoring and Records

The Directors will establish proportionate environmental objectives after defining the scope, baseline, owner, timeframe and measurement method. Measures may include energy, business travel, deliveries, packaging, waste routes, obsolete stock, supplier evidence, product certifications, environmental complaints, incidents and corrective actions. Data quality and limitations will be recorded so results are not overstated.

11. Responsibilities, Concerns and Review

The Directors are accountable for this policy and for providing appropriate resources. Managers must apply relevant controls in purchasing, operations and communications. Employees and contractors must prevent waste and pollution, follow instructions, retain required evidence and report concerns or incidents promptly. Environmental concerns should be raised with a Director or the relevant Atura contact. This policy and supporting objectives will be reviewed at least annually and after a material incident, legal change or change in operations or supply-chain risk.
